Terms and Conditions

1. Definitions

• "Platform" refers to the Meal Hack website, mobile applications, systems, tools, and services.
• "User" refers to any person accessing or using the Platform.
• "Subscription" refers to any paid plan offered through the Platform.
• "Free Trial" refers to the initial limited-use period offered to new subscribers.
• "We", "us", "our" refers to the Platform operator.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Platform independently. Users under 18 may only use the Platform with verified parental or guardian consent. We may restrict or terminate access if eligibility requirements are not met.

3. Account Responsibility

You agree to provide accurate and complete information. You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your login details
• All activity that occurs under your account
• Ensuring your information remains accurate

4. Free Trial

All paid plans include a 14-day free trial. No payment is taken during the trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically begin billing at the end of the trial at the price disclosed at sign-up. You can cancel at any time during the trial from the Manage Subscription option in the app.

5. Subscription and Billing

Subscriptions are billed by Stripe, our third-party payment processor. By subscribing, you authorise Stripe to charge your selected payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel. Stripe's own terms and privacy policy apply to your payment data. We do not store your card number.

Pricing may vary by currency (USD, ZAR, EUR) and by region. Promotion codes and beta access codes may be redeemable at checkout or via the in-app redemption screen, subject to their individual terms. Prices, features, and billing structures may change with prior notice.

6. No Refunds and Waiver of Cooling-Off Right

Due to the digital nature of the service and immediate access to AI-generated content, all payments are non-refundable. By starting your subscription you expressly request immediate access to digital content and acknowledge that, to the extent permitted by applicable consumer-protection law (including in the EU and under the South African Consumer Protection Act), you lose any statutory right of withdrawal once delivery has begun. You may cancel at any time, and your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing cycle.

7. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

The Platform uses artificial intelligence to generate meal plans, recipes, images, and nutritional information. Inputs are processed via AWS Bedrock and related providers, using models from Anthropic, Meta, Mistral, Amazon, Qwen (Alibaba), and Stability AI, under their respective terms. These outputs:

• Are automatically generated
• May contain inaccuracies, omissions, or errors
• Are not reviewed by a human, dietitian, or medical professional

We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any AI-generated content.

8. Nutritional Information Disclaimer

All calorie counts, macronutrients, and nutritional values are estimates only. They:

• May vary significantly from actual values
• Should not be relied upon for medical or clinical dietary decisions
• Do not replace professional nutritional advice

9. Image Disclaimer

Images displayed on the Platform may be AI-generated or illustrative. They:

• May not reflect actual meals
• May misrepresent portion sizes or ingredients
• Are for visual guidance only

10. User Responsibility

You are solely responsible for:

• Verifying ingredients and allergens before purchasing or preparing any meal
• Ensuring food safety and proper preparation
• Determining the suitability of any meal for your health
• Any outcomes resulting from your use of the Platform

You must not rely on the Platform without independent judgement.

11. Medical Disclaimer

The Platform does not provide medical advice. You must consult a qualified professional before making dietary changes if you have:

• Medical conditions
• Allergies or intolerances
• Pregnancy-related needs
• Hormonal or metabolic concerns

Never disregard professional advice based on Platform content.

12. No Guarantee of Results

We do not guarantee:

• Weight loss or gain
• Health improvements
• Performance outcomes
• Dietary success

Results vary based on individual circumstances.

13. Third-Party Services

Where the Platform integrates with third-party services (for example, payment providers or, where made available, grocery or delivery integrations), we are not responsible for:

• Pricing differences
• Product availability
• Substitutions
• Delivery or fulfilment issues
• Accuracy of third-party data

Your interaction with third parties is at your own risk.

14. Service Availability

The Platform depends on third-party infrastructure (including AWS, Supabase, and Stripe). We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. We may:

• Modify, suspend, or discontinue features
• Perform maintenance
• Update functionality

15. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Misuse the Platform
• Attempt to access restricted systems
• Extract, scrape, or copy data
• Interfere with functionality
• Attempt to manipulate, jailbreak, or extract system prompts from the AI features
• Use the Platform to generate, store, or distribute content unrelated to meal planning, or content that is unlawful, harmful, or abusive

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

16. Intellectual Property and Content Licence

The Platform, our software, system content, branding, and underlying templates remain our property or that of our licensors. You may not copy, resell, redistribute, or reverse engineer any part of the Platform.

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the meal plans, recipes, and shopping lists generated for you for your own household and personal use. We do not guarantee uniqueness — other users with similar preferences may receive similar outputs.

When you upload photos for ingredient or meal recognition, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to process, transmit, and store those images for the purpose of providing the service, including transmission to AI providers for ingredient recognition. You retain ownership of your photos.

17. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:

• Inaccuracies in AI-generated content
• Allergic reactions or health outcomes
• User input errors
• Third-party failures
• Indirect or consequential damages

Our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim (if any).

18. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or losses arising from:

• Your use of the Platform
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your reliance on generated content

19. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, misuse the Platform, or fail to pay. You may cancel your subscription and delete your account at any time.

On termination by you, your account and personal data are deleted as described in our Privacy Policy. On termination by us for breach, we may retain anonymised data and any data required for legal or regulatory compliance.

20. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. Before commencing legal proceedings, you agree to first attempt to resolve any dispute informally by contacting us at admin@meal-hack.com. If we cannot resolve the dispute within 30 days, the courts of Johannesburg, South Africa will have exclusive jurisdiction.

21. Updates

We may update these Terms at any time. The version number and date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the Platform after a material update means you accept the updated Terms.

22. Mobile Application Terms (App Store & Google Play)

These additional terms apply when you access the Platform through the mobile application downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store ("App"). They supplement the rest of these Terms.

22.1 Agreement Scope

This Agreement is concluded between you and the Platform operator only, and not with Apple Inc. or Google LLC. Apple and Google are not parties to this Agreement and are not responsible for the App or its content. All obligations and liabilities remain with us.

22.2 Licence Grant

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download, install, access, and use the App on a device that you own or control, strictly for personal, non-commercial use. This licence is subject to these Terms and to the Apple Media Services Terms (iOS) or Google Play Terms (Android), as applicable.

22.3 App Store Provider Responsibilities

Apple and Google have no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App. We are solely responsible for support. Direct any issues to admin@meal-hack.com, not to Apple or Google.

22.4 Subscription Payments and Cancellation

Subscription payments are processed by Stripe via our in-app or web checkout — not by Apple In-App Purchase or Google Play Billing. Your Apple ID and Google Account settings do not control your Meal Hack subscription. To change your payment method or cancel your subscription, use the Manage Subscription option in the app, which opens the Stripe customer portal. Deleting the App does not cancel your subscription.

22.5 No Warranty (App-Specific)

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the App will function without interruption, be error-free, be compatible with all devices, or meet your expectations.

22.6 Limitation of Platform Provider Liability

Apple and Google are not responsible for any claims relating to the App, including product liability, legal compliance, and consumer protection claims. All such claims must be directed to us.

22.7 Device Permissions and Mobile Data

The App requests access to your camera, photo library, and notifications. These permissions are required for related features and can be managed in your device settings. Using the App may consume mobile data; any carrier charges are your responsibility.

22.8 Export and Legal Compliance

You agree that the App may be subject to export laws and regulations and that you will not use or export it in violation of applicable law. You confirm that you are not located in a sanctioned country and not on any restricted or prohibited list.

22.9 Removal from App Stores

We may remove the App from the Apple App Store or Google Play, or discontinue access, at any time without liability.

22.10 Third-Party Beneficiary (Apple)

If you use the App on an Apple device, you acknowledge that Apple Inc. and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and have the right to enforce them against you.

For any questions, complaints, or support requests relating to the App, contact admin@meal-hack.com. Apple and Google do not provide support for the App.
